Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) is an 8-week educational program designed to help you improve your resilience and feel more connected to others—ultimately providing an overall sense of well-being. CCT was developed by a team of contemplative scholars, researchers, and psychologists at the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education at Stanford University.
CCT combines traditional contemplative practices with contemporary psychology and scientific research to help you lead a more compassionate life. Through instruction, daily meditation, mindfulness, and in-class interaction, you can strengthen the qualities of compassion, empathy, and kindness. The practices taught in CCT promote wise, compassionate action across a range of situations, and support resilience to distress and burnout. These skills can lead to better engagement and communication in relationships, increased ability to handle stressful situations, higher job satisfaction, and greater psychological wellbeing.
Learn how to train your mind to intentionally choose compassionate thoughts and actions and develop skills that help you relate to others—and yourself. In the 8-week program, you will attend a weekly 2-hour group class, that includes education, discussion, and experiential exercises. You will also be provided with resources to support a regular meditation practice to develop loving-kindness, empathy, and compassion. In addition, you will be given strategies and exercise to incorporate compassionate action into your daily life.
This program is open to anyone who wishes to cultivate compassion for themselves and others. No previous meditation experience is required, however participation in regular meditation practice is a fundamental aspect of the program.
