About the Workshop

Dr Amy Finlay-Jones will present a 1-day workshop on the science and practice of compassion cultivation.

This workshop is designed to help you cultivate compassion for others through education, dialogue and practice. In the workshop you will learn skills and concepts from the Compassion Cultivation Training program developed at Stanford University, as well as other leading mindfulness and compassion-based programs. You will engage in learning, discussion, and experiential exercises that are designed to help you intentionally cultivate compassion for self and others. In addition to exploring the personal benefits of compassion practice, you will have a chance to explore how compassion training can support professional wellbeing.

In this workshop, we will work with:

·      What compassion is

·      The empirically-supported benefits of compassion practice

·      How to practice loving-kindness meditation

·      Practical strategies for cultivating compassion for yourself and others

·      How to overcome common barriers to compassion 

This workshop is most suitable for those who have some experience with meditation, but can also accommodate beginners.
