On our playlist this week is an interview with Shozan Jack Haubner (@ShozanJHaubner) that was broadcast on the One You Feed podcast. Shozan Jack Haubner is a zen monk and writer, whose wonderful memoir Zen Confidential: Confessions of a Wayward Monk is one of my all time favourites. I love him because he is hilarious, honest, and very human: he tells it like it is, and his wisdom embraces both profound and profane.
In this episode of the One You Feed podcast, Eric Zimmer chats with SJH about chasing enlightenment, embracing our shadow side and looking at the lighter side of life. Have a listen and tell us what you think in the comments below!
About the One You Feed
The One You Feed podcast was created by Chris Forbes and Eric Zimmer. It's based on the parable of the two wolves:
"An old grandfather told his grandson: “My son, there is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, and resentment. The other is good. It is joy, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, and bravery.”
The boy thought about it, and asked, “Grandfather, which wolf wins?”
The old man quietly replied, "The one you feed".
The podcast features a series of interviews with spiritual leaders, psychologists, musicians and artists, who talk about how they feed the good wolf so that they keep themselves moving in the right direct.
